QWERTY Attorney (the blog) was born in March 2009, shortly after the pardon and release of the remaining “convicted” AVSECOM soldiers, with an essay wondering who really may have “masterminded” the assassination of Ninoy Aquino in 1983.
Then, it concentrated on covering the 2010 National Elections, going by the name of The Stand: 2010 Elections. It noted the personalities running for national positions, aggregated various news articles, and described the political environment through a “2010 in Focus” series. It also posted results in Metro Manila the week after the elections. In May 2010 alone, this blog generated over 27,000 page views!
After months of inactivity, the blog got a “facelift” in October 2011, adopting the aims of two “unfulfilled” endeavors by the blog author (Attorney Boy, another personal blog, and Kung Tayo ang Pangulo, an erstwhile “idea bank” initiative).
Now, QWERTY Attorney is set to feature more stories, more opinions, more ideas, and lots of random stuff.
Mike took up BS Computer Science and Information Technology with specialization in Computer Networks Engineering at Asia Pacific College. His tertiary education was fully paid for by SM Foundation as one of its scholars. He graduated in 2011 as magna cum laude.
He worked for IBM Solutions Delivery, Inc., as a SAP ABAP Developer, before joining Rappler as a researcher/reporter in April 2013, just in time for that year’s midterm elections.
Mike’s interests include maps, current events and political trends. He is a big fan of TIME Magazine, especially its infographics. He likes to collect and analyze data. In fact, he has his own database of past Philippine congressmen, past stock exchange indices and past peso-dollar exchange rates.
He once starred in a 2003 Children’s Hour commercial that goes, “Manggas pa lang, gamot na niya.” He hopes to have a copy of that TV ad.
He is an avid WWE fan, and considers Shawn Michaels the greatest pro wrestler of all time. Some of his personal favorites are The Undertaker, The Rock, Chris Jericho, CM Punk, and Daniel Bryan. Despite this, he is a “mild-mannered” person. He is a subtle adrenaline junkie and a corny fellow, though. He is tagged as an Idealist and an INFJ person.
He sees himself as a future President of the Philippines, among other dream professions.
