Politically, Pasay City and Makati City are almost the same. Also, it should be remembered that both outgoing Mayors Peewee Trinidad and Jojo Binay were suspended by the Ombudsman years ago, but stood their ground in their respective City Halls, together with their supporters.
In this year’s elections, both cities are almost the same as well: more than the usual two tickets are running for local posts. But in the case of Pasay City, an astounding five complete slate of candidates are participating, seriously threatening the re-election bid of Mayor Peewee Trinidad. Prominent families in the city race include the Bayonas, Calixtos and Panaligans.
Names in italics are incumbent candidates running for re-election.
|Greg Alcera||Jose Antonio Roxas|
|Arnel Arceo||Imelda Calixto|
|Marlon Pesebre||Allan Panaligan|
Wenceslao “Peewee” Trinidad is in his 2nd term as Mayor. Greg Alcera is a former Vice Mayor (1998-2001), and is currently Trinidad’s Chief of Staff. Cong. Jose Antonio Roxas is seeking a 2nd term.
Tony Calixto is the outgoing Vice Mayor of Pasay. His sister, Imelda Calixto-Rubiano, is a 2nd District Councilor running for Representative. Arnel Arceo is an outgoing 2nd District Councilor as well.
