Las Piñas City is known to be Manny Villar’s home base, and is a strong citadel of the Nacionalista Party. This is why the Liberal Party is looking forward to paint this city yellow, if you will.
Incumbent Mayor Vergel Aguilar runs for a second consecutive term as Mayor, and is up against LP’s Felix Sinajon and two more candidates. Aguilar chose 2nd District Coun. Luis Bustamante as his running-mate.
The Aguilars (both Vergel and his wife Imelda) have held the Mayoralty post since 1995. Sinajon, on the other hand, is Charter President of Kiwanis Club of Metro Las Piñas.
Outgoing Rep. Cynthia Villar (wife of Presidential candidate Manny Villar) selects his son, Mark Villar, to replace her in Congress. But on his way is LP’s Francisco Antonio Jr., son and namesake of the city’s Mayor from 1959 to 1963.
Names in italics are candidates running for re-election.
